CHOIR LEADER
After graduation, Dominic found his experience coaching musical theatre ensembles to be invaluable as a choir leader. He has worked with experienced singers and amateurs alike and always pushes his groups for their best performances whilst still ensuring rehearsals are fun and exhilarating for choir members.
IN DEEP COMMUNITY TASKFORCE & ST. PANCRAS COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION
2022
In early 2022, Dominic led the Over 50s Choir of the In Deep Community Taskforce, a charity working with isolated people in Westminster and Lambeth. Alongside accompanist Melissa Cowell, he conducted both the singers and performers from the Royal College of Music, with five-part instrumental arrangements he orchestrated. At the same time, he also tutored 'Golden Years', a singing group for over 60s in St. Pancras. The group sang feel-good music from the 50s and 60s with piano and guitar accompaniment from Dominic. He said goodbye to both groups when he moved to Stockport.
SINGSPIRATION CHOIR
2016-2019
In 2016, Dominic took over Halifax's Singspiration, a community choir with an emphasis on singing as a means of building confidence and improving members' mental and physical health. For three and half years they performed throughout West Yorkshire, with Dominic providing piano accompaniment and three-part vocal arrangements of songs in pop, jazz and musical theatre styles as well as helping promote the group via social media and promotional recordings.
TINTAGEL VOICES
2017-2019
Dominic ran Tintagel Voices from early 2017 to mid 2019. The Sheffield-based choir were known for their experimental repertoire of contemporary composers like Steve Reich and John Cage, as well as their Christmas performances in aid of St Luke's Hospice. Under Dominic, the group performed his arrangements of music by Benjamin Britten, Phillip Glass and Arvo Pärt as well as some of his own compositions and (particularly popular) folk songs of the UK, Macedonia, South Africa and others.
RAMSBOTTOM TUNELESS CHOIR & BLUEBELL WOOD SINGERS
2016-2018
Dominic briefly ran the Ramsbottom branch of the Tuneless Choir franchise, the choir specifically for people who feel they can't sing. Then, when volunteering with the music therapy team at Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice in Rotheram, Dominic set up a bi-weekly choir for the staff, children and families as a way to let loose and have fun in what could sometimes be a sombre environment. All were welcome, regardless of ability, and songs were chosen by the attendees. Though the group was primarily for the benefit of those at the hospice, the singers did perform occasionally to promote the charity at fundraisers.
